India and Pakistan surprised many people in their own countries not to speak about the people of Kashmir when they recently in a joint statement declared that they have entered into a ceasefire agreement in Jammu and Kashmir and it would be strictly adhered to.

In Jammu and Kashmir apart from politicians common people were also happy with this sudden development as they want to live a life of peace free from violence.

The mainstream politicians of Jammu and Kashmir have welcomed the move and have expressed the hope that it would be the beginning of further negotiations so that they hammer out a lasting peace on table.

Former Chief Ministers Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti welcomed it saying dialogue is the only way forward if both countries want to stop the unending cycle of violence and bloodshed across the borders and in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Seemingly Indo Pak detente. Don’t know how long the goodwill stays only to be replaced by the perpetual bad. Not being negative. But tempted to say. They can play friends and enemies whenever they want. Wish we Kashmiris learn our lessons. And we won’t learn. Never have. Never will,” Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone tweeted.

The tweet of Sajad Lone is the ground reality of Jammu and Kashmir while the people here suffer most but they are never asked and never kept in loop whenever India and Pakistan want to end this hostility.
