Government has decided to start offline classes in all the schools despite a surge in the covid cases at many places including in Jammu and Kashmir.
On Monday Jammu and Kashmir administration ordered the opening of all schools in Kashmir Valley in a staggered manner from the month of March. While schools from 9 to 12 standards shall open from 1 March, the elementary schools have been ordered to open for students from 8 March by the government.
The government order said, “In continuation of government order (no.19-Edu of 2021 dated 22-1-2021), it is hereby ordered that all government educational institutions including recognized private schools shall physically open in a staggered manner for academic activities wherein schools of Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu division for Class 9th to 12h will function from March-01-2021”.
“In case of elementary classes’ up to class 8th, teachers shall attend the schools from March-01-2021 for preparation and students shall physically attend classes’ w.e.f from March-08-2021,” it reads further, adding, “Notified Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) guidelines shall remain unaltered and shall be followed in letter and spirit. However the parents have said that it is beyond the scope of school authorities to save the children from the covid infection amid reports of a second wave of this infection at many places.
Already the private coaching institutions have not been adhering to the sop’s and guidelines set for them by the government to run these institutions and a lot of people expressed fears that the covid infection may recur from these institutions as thousands of youth are going for the coaching on a daily basis.
