A delegation of foreign ambassadors arrived in Srinagar including those from European Union, France, and other countries. According to the media reports available they are on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir for making an assessment of the situation post the abrogation of the erstwhile state’s special status in 2019.

Earlier also the government allowed foreign delegation to class Srinagar and Jammu so that on the diplomatic front New Delhi gets room to talk about the ground situation prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir in the backdrop of changes done by the parliament reducing the Jammu and Kashmir state into two union territories.

According to the media reports the delegation, comprising envoys from Europe, Africa, South America and Asia, were taken to a government college in Budgam where they were received by the administration and briefed about the strengthening of local bodies, including panchayats in the recently held peaceful elections here.

This is the first visit by foreign envoys to Jammu and Kashmir after the recently held DDC elections in which even the PAGD participated and got a good number of seats.

This is the first election of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir when in every district there would be elected members with the chairman of the council to take decisions about the development projects.
