No civilian aware of move to scrap special status of J-K: Govt informs Rajya Sabha
The central government denied that civilians, including a journalist, were privy to information related to the abrogation of Article 370, which granted limited-autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir.
New Delhi did away with article-370 of the constitution and broke down the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two federally-governed territories in August 2019. In doing so it clamped unprecedented restrictions imposing curfews and a communication blackout.
“No sir,” Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy told the Rajya Sabha when asked whether civilians, including a journalist, were privy to knowledge about the abrogation of Article 370 prior to the information being shared with Parliament on 5 August 2019.
