With another spell of snow as predicted by MET department, Srinagar-Jammu highway which was already closed by the authorities on Friday for technical reasons is now closed due to heavy rains and snow across both the sides of Jawahar tunnel.

There is already shortage of essentials in Kashmir valley and yet another closure of highway has brought to focus all those problems which common people face during such periods here.

When the government cannot keep the supply chain in order during the winters, how can they expect tourism and other sectors to pick up here?

Proper connectivity must for tourism to flourish here and the government will have to address the sudden price rise in air tickets during such a period.

According to some media reports many tourists cannot come to Kashmir to watch the snow as the air traffic was also disrupted and when it resumed, the tickets were sold at higher prices.

The government will have to put in place a proper mechanism to control such prices in air tickets. The authorities will have to streamline the souring prices in the Srinagar markets in order to provide some relief to the people.

Whenever there is such a crisis due to inclement weather first to disappear on the ground is the government which results in crisis like situations for common people.
