When the eight phase DDC elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir, it was expected that a huge space made available for political activists to move around freely.

But unfortunately ahead of the counting day of the DDC elections many PDP leaders were arrested though the government did not give any reasons for their detention.

First PDP was targeted according to its president Mehbooba Mufti in order to silence her so that she does not talk about restoration of article 370 and restoration of rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

It was followed by a sensational claim by former chief minister and national conference vice president Omar Abdullah who not only played the audio clip showing how one of their candidates was forced to join JK Apni Party but also claimed that its two leaders in Shopian have been detained by police.

Omar Abdullah said that such pressure tactics by the central government using police, administration and other hidden methods to rob PAGD mandate will not go well in the democracy of Jammu and Kashmir.

There have been many news reports about the detentions of PAGD activists in different parts of Kashmir valley and this new trend of arrests has alarmed this entire alliance and they may soon meet to make a strategy for such moves of the government.
