After a recent gunfight on the outskirts of Srinagar city, the families of three slain youth came to Srinagar and claimed that their wards were killed in cold blood and they were not involved in militancy.

Hours after Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed that they had killed three militants in an HMT gunfight; the families of three slain youth staged a protest in Srinagar and contested police claims. The family members said the slain youth were innocent and termed the gunfight as fake.

As soon as the encounter ended, they took out protest demonstrations outside the Police Control Room (PCR) Srinagar and demanded strict action against the accused in the case.

Mohammad Altaf Lone, brother of slain Zubair Ahmad Lone from Turkewagan Shopian media that his brother was a carpenter and innocent.

“He was at home and had lunch with the family. After that, we have no knowledge about his whereabouts. We thought he might have visited relatives,” he said.

Lone, who also works in the Police department, said they came to know after someone informed them that Zuabir was killed in an HMT gunfight.

“We are waiting at PCR Srinagar and they are denying us his body. Police are insisting on burying them at Sonamarg. Lone was not having any militant links,” he said.
