The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration leadership has now more challenges after their win in the recent DDC elections. PAGD was formed primarily to challenge and politically fight back all the decisions taken by the central government post August 5, 2019.

These elections were virtually thrusted on them and they decided to fight them not to give a free run to BJP and other forces in Kashmir. How they will proceed ahead in the political arena of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming months is worth watching.

Omar Abdullah while talking to different media outlets said that this victory is an endorsement of their stand that article 370 should be restored in Jammu and Kashmir and all the decisions taken by the central government in this regard should be nullified.

However he said that the fight of PAGD would be peaceful, legal and within the rights of democratic norms, Omar Abdullah accused BJP for pumping money, using muscle and all the central agencies at their command to discourage PAGD from winning this election.

He said that PAGD has made significant gains in Jammu and claimed that if DDC elections would have been held in Leh and Kargil, the results would have been in favor of PAGD.

Omar Abdullah and other PAGD leadership are claiming that people of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir were not happy as they were disempowered by New Delhi through abrogation of article 370.
