60 business operators with no registration certificates booked in Srinagar

Authorities on Monday initiated a fresh drive against those business operators who were invloved in running their business without obtaining registration certificates under Food Safety and Standards Act.

Officials said that a fresh drive was started in District Srinagar against those Food Business Operators who were running their business without obtaining licence and registration under Food Safety & Standards Act (FSS) Act.

“Sixty complaints have been filed in the competent court and sixteen registration certificates of Food Business Operators who are eligible for licence have been cancelled”, they said and added that under Eat Right Challenge which is a flag ship program of FSSAI, district Srinagar has to increase the number of licences, registration by 20 percent up to March 2021.

“Carrying Food business without obtaining licence is an offence under FSS Act and carries a punishment of imprisonment upto six-months and fine up to rupees five lacs”, an official said.

Meanwhile Commissioner Food & Drug Administration J&K Shakeel-ul-Rehman directed all Food Business Operators to obtain proper licence or registration certificates as per their annual turnover by accessing the official website wwwfoscosfssai.gov.in. (KNS)
