IGP says slain militants of Pulwama belonged to Al-Badr

Giving details of the Pulwama gunfight, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar told the media that they were all local militants and belonged to Al-Badr organization.

On Wednesday in Pulwama three militants were killed and one civilian was injured in Tiken area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district after the security forces cordoned the area on specific information.

A civilian was also injured during exchange of firing, he was immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment and is said to be stable.

According to the official data, 201 militants have been killed so far this year in Kashmir Division. Police said that they were getting a lot of information from the ground in order to zero in on militant hideouts in different villages.

Reports said that a joint team of police, Army’s 55 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Tiken.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
