Former Chief Minister and PDP head Mehbooba Mufti has claimed that she is under house arrest from the past few days as the police have denied her the freedom to move to different places in connection with DDC elections. Police have denied such claims and have said that she has not been detained but only she was told that she cannot go to Pulwama due to security reasons.

However, police and authorities have no answers to the tweets of Mehbooba Mufti in which she asked a question if she is not detained why even the journalists were not allowed to her home at Gupkar residence as she called a press conference.

Her daughter Iltija Mufti said that she has also been detained and not allowed to move out. She said that basically her mother wanted to console the family of Waheed Parra youth wing chief of PDP who was recently detained by NIA and they have now got a remand of 15 days to question him from a Jammu NIA court.

Waheed got summons from NIA on the same evening when he filed the nomination papers for the DDC elections from Pulwama district. After questioning him for a few days he was formally arrested by NIA in connection with his contacts with militant’s especially with Hizb.

Mehbooba Mufti has described his arrest as a witch hunt and intimidation by the authorities not to allow PAGD candidates to contest the polls and discourage them from joining the mainstream political process. She leveled serious allegations against BJP and claimed that the central government of BJP was using the central agencies like NIA, CBI and ED to browbeat the political opponents especially in Kashmir valley.

She claimed that most of the cases filed by these agencies against Kashmiri leadership are baseless and part of the design by the BJP government to silence every voice of dissent in Jammu and Kashmir.
