One of the units of Peoples alliance for Gupkar declaration recently filed a fresh plea in Supreme Court for the early hearing number of writ petitions pending before the constitutional bench of Supreme Court. Recently most of the Kashmir based mainstream political parties have come under one umbrella to fight politically and also on the ground along with legal options to get back article 370 the special status which was accorded to Jammu and Kashmir by union of India after it acceded to the union instead of Pakistan.

Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Peoples Conference led by Former Minister Sajad Gani Lone now one of the units of recently forged People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration  has through a plea in Supreme Court sought early hearings in the pending several petitions about the abrogation of article 370. Most of the Kashmir based political parties including National Conference, many civil society groups and other individuals have challenged the abrogation of article 370 in Supreme Court.

In a tweet People’s Conference said, “J&K Peoples Conference moves SC, seeks early hearing of a batch of Petitions challenging abrogation of Article 370 & reorganization of J&K,”. People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration in the recent meetings have decided to go for the acceleration of the judicial process in Supreme court as these petitions are now pending before the constitution bench.

JK Apni party which is regarded close to the BJP government at the centre recently said that either the Supreme Court or parliament of India can restore the special position of Jammu and Kashmir and described the PAGD declaration to fight for it as political posturing.
