MEHBOOBA SPEAKS
Mehbooba Mufti after her detentions has decided to speak her mind and has been sending tweets critical of the BJP government at the centre. When the right wing elements in Jammu tried to hoist tricolor at her office in the winter capital, she decided to go to Jammu and talk not only with the party activists but also to the cross section of people.
Initially by her tricolor remarks she suffered some reverses in Jammu division as three leaders of PDP resigned and said that such remarks were not tolerable. Mehbooba Mufti soon after the fresh amendments in the land laws was able to turn the tables and could get her activists back on the track in the Jammu division and managed to hold protests against such land laws.
After reaching Jammu amid protests by BJP workers, while interacting with party workers in Jammu and claimed that BJP was afraid of Kashmiri leadership. She said that the government should allow the people of Jammu and Kashmir to express them freely and not curtail their freedom.
“If you claim everything is fine and normal, allow us to contact people, why are you scared of us. You don’t allow us to protest and silence us using police and troopers,” Mehbooba Mufti said during her address to party workers in Jammu.
She had decided to address the party workers as she faced angry protests at Jammu airport on her tricolor remarks. She wanted to convey to BJP leadership in Jammu that she will delink all the controversies from the recent land amendments.
