Eight injured in north Kashmir road accident
Srinagar: At least eight persons have sustained injuries in a road mishap after two vehicles collided head-on along Kupwara-Srinagar national highway here at Tutigund area of Handwara on Tuesday afternoon.
Reports reaching said that two vehicles – ‘Eco’ with Registration number JK-03D 1656 and an ‘Alto 800’ with Registration number JK-09B 9881 – had a collision at Tutigund area resulting in injuries to at least eight persons.
The injured persons have been identified as; Mohammad Asif Peer (20) son of Ghulam Hassan Peer resident of Kandi Khaas, Abdul Majeed Magray (26) son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Kandi, Firdous Ahmad Sofi (20) son of Abdul Gaffar resident of Ashpore, Safoora Begum (30) wife of Abdul Majeed resident of Kandi, Aamir Manzoor Ganie (18) son of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie resident of Hangah, Abdul Hameed Lone (38) son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Radbugh, Rayees Ahmad War (18) son of Mohammad Jameel resident of Lawoosa and Irshad Ahmad Rather (30) son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Kandi.
All the injured persons were evacuated to District Hospital Handwara for treatment, reports said.
Meanwhile a police official has confirmed the incident and said that a case has been registered under relevant sections and further investigations taken up. (GNS)
