Pandach-Beehama mega project of Ganderbal is still in the pipeline as it could have been a game changer for the development of Ganderbal district. Apart from previous political dispensations even now the central government is not showing any keen interest to give a push to the development by the projects like it.

One of the mega developmental projects, road widening and up gradation from Pandach to Behaama chowk in District Ganderbal has been once again halted after missing many deadlines earlier.

The road widening of this project is the main bottleneck and according to the officials they need much more than allocated for the land acquisition in order to complete this 20 crore project.

The cost escalation of the project is also one of the reasons for this project to remain in pipeline. This 3.75 Km stretch is main road with the importance of entry into the District and its widening was one of the long pending demand of people which is now counted in languishing projects.

It is in place to mention that this road widening project was approved under Central Road funds with the estimated cost of 20 crores and R&B department have given contract of execution to a private road construction company to complete the project within the time period of 4 years.

The other formalities which include land acquisition and demolition of structures at various bottle necks was one of the main reasons for disruption in construction works, said some officials associated with this project.

The locals of Ganderbal have expressed their disappointment over the halt on construction work as the narrowness of this stretch has been always causing frequent traffic jams since decades. However, According to officials the required compensation for the land owners will cross almost 50 crores while as State Government has provided very less money for compensation to the land leading to delay.
