In the recent past most of the mainstream political leaders and their supporters have been released and they have been allowed to have a free movement including holding the party meetings in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir.

Although PDP president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti is still under detention, Iltija Mufti has taken a fresh plea before the Supreme Court for the release of her mother.

The Supreme Court has told the government that they cannot detain any person indefinitely without giving any solid reason behind. Court asked the government how long they will detain her and should inform the court on the next date of hearing.

But the party PDP has held a number of meetings in Srinagar and have collected feedback from their political activists in order to decide how to move about politically in Kashmir valley post abrogation of article 370.

Similarly the National Conference has recently dissolved its youth wing and held a lot of meetings of its important leaders to chalk out future strategy in order to remain relevant on the ground.

Most of the mainstream political parties in Kashmir including two national parties Congress and CPIM have decided to give a united political fight for the restoration of article 370 and have repeated an earlier stand about the fight which is known as the Gupkar declaration.
