After the Gupkar declaration signed by all prominent political parties of Kashmir there is a new bonhomie between National Conference and PDP who were regarded as archrivals in Kashmir politics.
Recently all the leaders of PDP and National Conference have indicated that in future they will work together for a better ground understanding and even the Sajad Gani Lone has said that Gupkar declaration is the basis of future politics to be played by all the mainstream political parties here.
Abdullah told in this interview that in the greater interest of Kashmir the Mufti and Abdullah families have buried their past differences and come together. He said, today, Mehbooba Mufti was politically close to both his son Omar and himself. He said that he was in touch with her frequently and they are united along with all other mainstream political leaders to fight against the BJP agenda in Kashmir.
Abdullah asked why Mehbooba Mufti has not been released. “Is she a criminal?” and urged the government to release her as they cannot break her will.
Mehbooba Mufti was the first political leader and former chief minister alleging BJP of trying to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir from Muslim majority area to Hindu majority area.
Meanwhile Iltija Mufti is moving to Supreme Court for the release of her mother Mehbooba Mufti, whose detention the party leaders described as “illegal” and “questionable in a democracy” in the recent meeting held in Srinagar.
