After army statement
After the army spokesman stated that three persons who were killed in Amshipora, Shopian encounter on July 18 were residents of Rajouri district and their involvement with militants is being investigated by Police, families of the slain civilians demanded immediate exhumation of bodies of their dear loved one and called for capital punishment to the guilty.
The families from Rajouri told the media that the culprits should be given exemplary punishment and they should be allowed to take bodies from Sonmarg graveyard.
The families have been waiting for the DNA sample test results from the past 40 days. Police said that they were investigating the matter as they have launched a parallel probe into this incident.
Families have said that authorities without any more delay and on the basis of humanity should exhume the bodies of the trio and hand them over to “family members” for proper burial.
With the army coming out from their initial probe that all the three were innocent civilians however police have said that they were investigating the matter whether they were having any involvement in militancy.
Political parties especially Omar Abdullah have demanded a time bound transparent probe into this fake encounter and have expressed hope that the guilty would be punished.
