There is a lotus bloom both in Dal and Nigeen lakes of Srinagar. The way lotus have sprouted it seems that LAWDA has started ignoring to clean these two water bodies. Apart from lotus in the spring of this year, thousands of tulip bulbs sprouted in the lap of Zabarwan hills known as tulip garden, but no visitors could see such a season.

Similarly in autumn, lotus used to bring a lot of foreigners to Kashmir valley to have the feel of this season here. According to the official data since the abrogation of article 370 on August 5, last year only 500 tourists have visited so for.

Nadru cultivation is in full bloom as it is the root of lotus. Authorities have allowed people to cultivate Nadru on the waters of Dal and Nigeen lakes without any regulation and it has resulted in more filling of these water bodies with mud.

Similarly fresh vegetable cultivation is being allowed by LAWDA in both the water bodies and it will choke the waters and also add to the alarming pollution levels.
