Commissioner Secretary I&C reviews progress on Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project at Govt Silk Factory Rajbagh

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 08: Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce, M.K. Dwivedi, today visited Government Silk Factory at Rajbagh and took stock of various ongoing works being executed there under the World Bank funded Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP).

Commissioner Secretary had a detailed assessment of all development works being done in the factory under JTFRP and directed the concerned officials to speed up the pace of the works so that the project is completed in the shortest possible time.

Reviewing working of the factory, Commissioner Secretary stressed upon the need for increasing the visibility of the products being manufactured by JKI especially Wool, Silk and Joinery items. He directed the Managing Director to promote the sales through both electronic and retail platform by creating product brochures, catalogues besides registering on e- commerce portals  and other genuine shopping sites.

Managing Director JKI informed that the department has already undertaken the work of registering on the Gem- Portal and would soon be having its presence on e-commerce retail chain Amazon for its Silk products. He revealed that the organization would be undertaking procurement of 50,000 Kg of Cocoon in the auction being organized by the Sericulture Department in Kashmir Division. This Procurement of cocoon would be in addition to 60,000 Kg of cocoon already procured by JKI in Jammu Division, he added.

Commissioner Secretary advised the management to undertake marketing and sale of its products on scientific lines to make the organization profitable and viable entity.
