The incessant rains triggered flash floods in north Kashmir’s Gurez, damaging a water supply scheme and blocking roads in this frontier area on Wednesday.

According to an official, the incessant rains triggered flash floods in Khandyal village in Gurez which has washed off a water supply scheme and also blocked a road in Burnai, leading towards Tulail which is further several kilometres from Gurez.

Sub-divisional magistrate Gurez, Mudasir Ahmad told Greater Kashmir that the road near Burnai was blocked due to rockslides and that the Border Roads Organisation was on the job to clear the road stretch.

The officer said that the overall situation in the valley was in control and no loss to life was reported.

He said Bandipora-Gurez road was also open for traffic.
