Government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to make more arrangements for the safety and security of those political workers who are working on the ground especially the panchayat members after the recent killings.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha recently asked panchayat members in Kashmir to take care of their safety and also promised best possible security arrangements.

According to the media reports, new LG has asked police to provide the new security arrangement for all such political workers so that they can work without any fear in the ground and they should feel safe along with their families.

The Lieutenant-Governor said this at a time when there has been a rise in attacks on panches and sarpanches in the Valley, which has forced the authorities to shift many of them to safe locations in the tourist resorts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam.

Government is completely aware that it is a temporary arrangement and all these panchs and sarpanchs will have to work in their respective villages so that all the benefits of the schemes launched by the government are received by common people.

But the recent attacks have made it impossible for the panchs and sarpanchs to move to their villages amid the growing threats and it would be a challenge for the government to provide them a safe environment to work in the villages.
