After the easing of restrictions due to Covid-19 lockdown, UT administration of Jammu and Kashmir along with health officials issued a number of guidelines for common people to save themselves in this pandemic.

In this direction recently Lt-Governor Girish Chandra Murmu made a fervent appeal to the people of the Union Territory to follow Covid-19 guidelines, the Jammu and Kashmir administration authorized all Deputy Commissioners to enforce the safety measures and impose penalties for violating the norms to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

The government has decided that it would impose a penalty of Rs 2,000 on the people violating home quarantine instructions, while spitting at public places would now invite a fine of Rs 500.

The owners of shops or commercial places violating social distancing norms will be slapped a fine of Rs 2,000, while persons not wearing masks in public places will have to pay a fine of Rs 500. Some district administrations have already decided to impose a fine of Rs 1,000 for not wearing masks.

In the past few weeks there has been a rapid increase in covid-19 positive cases across Jammu and Kashmir especially in Srinagar city. In Jammu district also authorities have decided to clamp weekend lockdown of two days to flatten the curve of pandemic.

There has been a lot of debate on easing of restrictions and the authorities have decided to act tough against all the violators of norms set by the government.
