Government has been focusing on the development of different districts post unlock 1.0 of Covid-19 lockdown. There is no doubt that in the past few months all the developmental projects were stopped due to lockdown and it has impacted many projects and the delay has proved to be costly.

In recent weeks, many Deputy Commissioners in Kashmir valley held meetings to restart the process of development after easing of restrictions. In this direction, recently,

The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, convened a meeting of all members of District Environment Committee (DEC) to discuss the progress on Action Areas taken up by different departments for implementation of District Environment Plan (DEP) in the district.

Threadbare discussion was held on action plans already taken or to be taken by the executing agency for implementation of the District Environment Plan for environmental conservation and improving parameters in the district.

The meeting discussed all the Action Areas taken up by different departments of district Ganderbal including Clarification of observations raised by department of Forest, Ecology and Environment regarding revision of the DEP, preparation of revised action plan for restoration of water bodies in district, restoration/creation of ponds/water bodies, enforcement and monitoring  guidelines for sand mining, implementation of action Plan for enforcement of E-waste/Solid waste/Biomedical waste/Industrial waste management rules besides Air quality and water quality management plan.
