I am hoping to make my Test debut on England tour: Haris Rauf

LAHORE: Upcoming paceman Haris Rauf on Thursday said that he is hoping to make his Test debut on the England tour if given a chance to make the final eleven in any of the three matches.

Talking to media in a tele-conference arranged by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Haris said Test cricket is the supreme format of the game and everyone has the desire to feature in it.

“I have the experience of playing four-day cricket in Australian domestic season and since I have the services of seasoned bowling coach Waqar Younis and senior fast bowlers like Wahab Riaz, Sohail Khan and Mohammad Abbas, I can learn a lot from them during the long training camp to be more mentally ready for Test cricket,” Haris said.

After showing good performances in the Big Bash League of Australia and for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League, Haris was picked by chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq for the T20 home series against Bangladesh. However, he failed to click in the contest, picking up just two wickets for 59 runs in two matches. Despite that, he has been retained for the tour of England.

Haris said he was learning the control over reverse swing and yorkers from bowling coach Waqar these days.

He said it was a great moment for him to be selected in the England’s bound team and it would be his first tour with the national team. Haris said his target is to give match-winning performance in every game.
