Delhi will need 80,000 beds by July end to tackle COVID-19 effectively: Kejriwal
Chief Minister of New Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, has said that the national capital needs 80,000 beds by July 31 to effectively deal with the COVID-19 challenge in the city.
A day after getting tested for COVID-19, Kejriwal delivered a virtual address and said that his government will strictly adhere to the directive issued by the Lieutenant Governor’s office and Centre.
“LG’s directives will be implemented in letter and spirit, this is not the time for disagreements or arguments: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on LG over-ruling Delhi cabinet’s decision of reserving hospitals for residents,” Kejriwal was quoted as saying by Times Now.
Reiterating that the world was witnessing an unprecedented challenge, Kejriwal called for a need to create a mass movement to tackle COVID-19 crisis. “For everyone’s safety, promoting social distancing and usage of masks has to be a people’s movement… just like the odd-even scheme,” he said.
The total number of coronavirus patients in the national capital has inched towards 30,000-mark today.
According to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia the number of cases is likely to reach 5.5 lakh by the end of July.
