The standoff of between the armies of India and China Ladakh region has triggered fresh wave of tension among the residents while as Covid-19 cases are also piling up forcing the authorities to take more precautions in this hilly region.  Recent reports from Kargil and Ladakh said that in the past one week lot of additional army units were seen moving to the far off posts and hills as the standoff between Indian and Chinese forces was going on in Ladakh.

In the past one week there has been lot of activity as the soldiers were seen moving to the posts and hills while the local shepherds were told to come down and at various passes they were not allowed to move ahead to the summer pastures. There is lot of army movement during the night hours and many of the local porters have been sent back by army to the villages and such disengagement is done only during war time.

Media has not been allowed to move to the Union Territory of Ladakh and many teams of journalists were sent back by authorities.  However, many Kashmir-based journalists working for different channels at New Delhi have been reporting that the army convoys are going through Zojila Pass in the past few weeks so that army is consolidated in the region due to the growing threat in many areas.

All the shepherds have stopped as they were forced by troops to move down, and while coming back from the hills they have described the situation as tense and claimed that army was moving into bunkers and into the posts and have seen them making new posts in various hilly areas of Kargil region.
