Srinagar: A paramilitary CRPF unit deployed in Kashmir Valley has pledged to boycott all the Chinese products, as the stand-off between the two nuclear countries continues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

In a video that has gone viral on social networking websites, like Facebook and Twitter, dozens of CRPF personnel of 177 battalion are seen taking oath to boycott all the Chinese products, including eatables, clothing and electronic equipment. The video was reportedly shot in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

In the video, the CRPF personnel in uniform could be heard taking a pledge to boycott ”Made in China” products like eatables, clothing and electronic gadgets.

“I take pledge on June 2, 2020 that I will not use any product made in China like eatables, drinking, clothing, electronic gadgets and communication equipment etcetera,” the CRPF personnel pledge in the 36-second long video.

CRPF spokesperson in Srinagar, Pankaj Singh, told Kashmir Observer that the pledge taken by the paramilitary men was not the version of the force but an emotional outburst of an individual battalion.

“We are of the same view that of government of India. We have to make our country self-sufficient. We have to make our goods and products as competitive to any other country in the world,” he said.

The paramilitary personnel taking pledge, Singh said were associated with 177 battalion in Kashmir off sector.
