Director RDD inspects MGNREGA works in Mandal Phallian Block of Jammu district

JAMMU, MAY 23:  Director Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj (RDD&PR) Sudershan Kumar inspected various executed under MGNREGA by the department in various panchayats of Block Mandal Phallian of Jammu district.

Kumar was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu, Amit Vermani, Executive Engineer (REW) Jammu, Ram Singh and other concerned.

On the occasion, Kumar emphasized on following Standard Operating Procedure on implementation of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA to meet the challenges arising out of COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to cope up with distressed situation among the rural poor, he exhorted upon the officers to provide handholding support in terms of livelihood security to these people and stressed on to bring these people under the ambit of MGNREGA Scheme.

He said that MGNREGA activities have resumed across Jammu Division with start of 10,198 works, 38,808 Job card holder engaged out of which 1,092 MGNREGA activities resume in Jammu District, in which 2,885 Job card holders have been engaged.

Similarly, 36,41,641 masks distributed across Jammu Division out of which 7,12,537 masks distributed in Jammu District.

Further, he appealed rural population to ensure wearing of masks and keep social distancing in order to combat COVID-19.

Later, he also interacted with PRI members and assured them of every possible help by the department.
