Announce special package for Journalists: Imran to Lt. Administration
Srinagar, May 18 (KNS): Former Deputy Mayor Srinagar and present Corporator Nishat, Sheikh Mohammed Imran Monday urged Lieutenant Governor led administration to announce a special package for the journalists working on the ground.
Imran in a statement issued to KNS stated that journalists are our COVID warriors who risk their lives to provide authentic information particularly during the ongoing coronavirus crisis where fake news has become a big challenge.
“We all should stand up to support them and pressure J&K administration to announce a special package for them,” he said.
Imran said journalists have provided us with accurate and authentic information during the present crisis.
“They are our heroes who are working around the clock to make sure our people are informed as to the deadly virus ricochets through our towns and our families,” he said.
Imran said as a common Kashmiri, I am highly impressed & inspired with entire media fraternity to express that special package should be designed, drafted &sanctioned in their favor.
“Coronavirus has strained & drained our journalists too and they have stood for our worst and we cannot leave them alone at this critical juncture,” he said.
While appealing to Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu led administration to personally look into this matter and announce a special package for the whole fraternity.
“The need of the hour is to design & draft a special economic package for our media fraternity for their survival in these tough times as they have always stood & risked their precious lives for the people of J&K,” he said.
Imran also urged Ministry of Information and Broadcasting along with the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) J&K to immediately come to their rescue at this crucial stage.
“Covid19 is no less than a world war wherein the media is also infantry and front line corona warriors. Entire media fraternity & journalist brigade should be provided PPE kits, face masks, sanitizers, temperature guns, etc for their welfare from the government,” he added. (KNS)
