The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has removed Ladakh from its hotspot area list.

“As per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare advisory, now both Leh and Kargil districts do not fall under the hotspot area as defined in the advisory,” Rigzin Samphel, Commissioner-Secretary, Health, Ladakh, told reporters here in Leh town today.

“As many as 88 sample reports of Ladakh were received from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi, and all reports were negative for Covid-19. Out of the total sample reports, 71 reports are of Leh district and 17 are of Kargil district,” Samphel said.

Regarding the containment zone, the officer said Achinathang village had been rescinded of containment zone for the reason that till now there were no positive cases reported. However, the village would remain under surveillance for the next 14 days.

Answering the queries, Samphel informed that test reports of the students of Kendra Vidyalaya School were also negative for Covid.

The tests of these students were conducted as one of the students of the school had tested positive a few days ago and had attended the school for three days.
