Sgr-Leh opens for essential supplies only

Ganderbal,April 10 (KNS):The strategic 434 Km Srinagar-Leh highway will be ropened today for essential supply vehicles.
Sources said, due to the shortage of petrol, diesel, vegetables and medicines in Kargil and Ladakh, vechicles laden with these supplies were allowed to ply on the road.

Cheif executive Councillor LAHDC Fairoz Ahmad Khan, told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that vehicles will be ply in particular days on the road ,adding that only 20 tankers, including petrol and diesel, to ply towards Kargil and Ladakh and in next two days trucks, carrying Vegetables and other essential commodities will ply.

He said that only conductor and drivers will allowed in these vehicles and they will be allowed to ply under security.
He added that the medical staff deployed at Minimarg check post will screen the drivers and conductors for Covid19 symptoms.
Sources said that Govt had decided to open the highway in the month of march, but due to the threat of the novel corona virus spread, the administration put the decesion on hold(KNS)
