Its virtual curfew in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir

In downtown Srinagar, most of localities especially around Khanyar look like ghost localities. It seems no human being is living here heavy presence of security forces on streets. From Nowpora to Khanyar, authorities have already sealed the area after one women tested positive and created a quarantine ward in Gousia Hospital Khanyar. Few women told this reporter that some of their relatives have been kept in quarantine ward of Gousia Hospital and were not having proper facilities to stay there. Government has sanitized the locality in this area and have quarantined many suspects either in hospitals or in homes.
With lockdown entering into fourth running day of Sunday, Srinagar city witnessed heavy presence of police and security forces enforcing lockdown. Even the private vehicles and two wheelers were being stopped at the barricades and most of them were being sent back by police.
In downtown Srinagar, people are preferring to stay indoors as the positive case of Khanyar locality has added to the panic and authorities have also decided to act by imposing curfew like restrictions.
As Kashmir is struggling to combat COVID-19 virus threat, doctors have told media outlets that they don’t have sufficient equipment and number of staff to look after the patients if it spreads among the people here. Government has released on Friday Rs 3 crore for the equipments and masks for the health services. While two MP’s of National Conference Farooq Abdullah and Husnain Masoodi have released 1 crore each from their MP fund to combat the coronavirus threat looming on Kashmir.
