26 traders booked, Rs 23700 realized

 A market checking squad of Legal Metrology today realized a fine of Rs 23700 from erring shopkeepers in Bandipora district.
Taking strong note of the complaints, the district administration has launched a district-wide drive to curb over pricing and violation of various consumer protection Acts.
The Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza has directed all the concerned officers to ensure regular inspections of markets within their respective jurisdiction and take strict action against those indulging in overpricing.
The Department of Legal Metrology led by Assistant Controller conducted inspection of various business establishments including vegetable, fruit sellers, poultry, mutton sellers, kiryana, bakery, LPG distributors and fuel dispensing pumps at Bandipora, Madder and Sumlar area of the district.
During the inspection, 26 traders were booked under different laws for violation of various legal metrology Acts and a fine of Rs 23700 was imposed on erring traders.
The DC said that the drive will continue on regular basis across all district markets to keep a check on traders and shopkeepers for indulging in overcharging and other unethical trade activities
