DGP visits Ganderbal, reviews security scenario

Director-General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir Dilbag Singh, IPS, on Sunday visited district Ganderbal to review the review of the security scenario, a police spokesman said.

He said that the DGP J&K chaired joint review meeting of Police, CRPF, and SSB at the District Police Headquarters Ganderbal to take stock of the security scenario in the district.

The meeting was attended by DC Ganderbal Hashmat Ali Khan, SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, Commandant CRPF 118 Bn Anil Dayani, Commandant CRPF 115 Bn Pankaj P Shah,  ASP Ganderbal Fayaz Hussain, Assistant Commandant 34 CC B. R. Tanwar, Dy. SP DAR Dr Abdul Majid, Dy.SP Hqrs. Fahad Tak, Dy.SP PC Shri Mohd Shafi, Dy. SP SDPO Kangan Sheikh Tahir Amin and all-district SHOs, said the spokesman.

Addressing the joint review meeting, the DGP commended the collective efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces for maintaining peace in the State.

He said that the commitment and spirit shown by the police and security forces on the ground towards the service of the nation will foil the evil designs of the anti-national elements disrupting peace in the State.

DGP Dilbag Singh said that all ranks of the force on the anti-terrorism front are exhibiting courage which has been recognised by the nation.

The DGP impressed upon the officers to work with full professionalism and commitment to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the State. He said that work with dedication for the welfare of people is our prime motive.

DGP directed the jurisdictional officers to be extra vigilant on the cases regarding drug abuse, adding that strict action is the need of the hour against the drug peddlers.

He emphasised that police-public meetings should be taken at the grass-root level to make people aware of the dangerous consequences of drug addiction. He said that people’s cooperation is must in eradicating the drug menace from the state.

Referring to the recent announcements of the Central and the State Government of increasing the ration money/hardship allowances and enumeration of SPOs the DGP said that PHQ is making every effort to provide better welfare measures to its force and to strengthen the Police personnel up to the lowest rank.

All the district field officers, including the commandants of CRPF and SSB battalions stationed in the district, briefed the DGP about the ground situation in their respective areas, said the spokesman.
