Illicit timber seized in Sopore, four smugglers arrested: Police
Sopore : Police in Sopore have arrested four timber smugglers and seized illicit timber from their possession.
“Acting on specific information, Sopore Police headed by SDPO Rafiabad and SHO Police Station Panza arrested four timber smugglers from the forest area of Muqam Shalkot Rafiabad,” said a police spokesman.
They were identified as Abdul Majeed Najar, Irshad Ahmad, Nisar Ahmad Najar Najar residents of Muqam Shalkot and Bilal Ahmad Lone resident of Muqam Shalkot, he said.
“Logs of illicit timber have been seized by the officers. Arrested individuals have been shifted to Police Station Panzla where they remain in custody,” he added.
Police has registered a case FIR No. 56/2019 under relevant sections & initiated investigation in the matter, said the spokesman.
