Anantnag: Militants killed in Katoo gunfight identified
Srinagar: Two Jaish militants were killed in an encounter with government forces in Katoo village of Anantnag district in south Kashmir on Tuesday, police said.
A police official identified the slain militants as Jaish commander Fayaz Panzoo of Tral and Shan Showkat Bhat, of Kanelwan. Earlier, the police spokesman said that on a credible input, a cordon and search operation was launched jointly by police and security forces in Katoo village. During the search operation, the hiding militants fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter.
