Two militants killed in Shopian gunfight
SRINAGAR — Two militants have been killed in a gunfight with state forces in Bonbazaar area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.
Acting on specific information about the presence of militants in the Bonbazar area of Shopian state forces launched a cordon and search operation, a police official said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants opened fired, inviting a retaliation from the forces.
In the exchange of firing, two militant have been killed and their bodies have been recovered, the official.
The slain militants have been identified as Munna Lahori, a Pakistani national, and a local militant.
