Resettlement of KPs
State Governor Satya Pal Malik has recently promised the comeback of Kashmiri Pandits and said that very soon his administration will come with a clear cut policy for their rehabilitation. His statement has come close to the heels of recent meetings held by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding Jammu and Kashmir State has asked the State Governor to go ahead with the resettlement of displaced Kashmiri Pandits in various districts of Kashmir Valley.
On the directions of Union Government recently State Governor Satya Pal Malik in the State Administrative Council (SAC) meeting has asked his officers to start the construction of clusters/ transit camps in various parts of Kashmir Valley and said that funds would be available and the projects should be completed within the time line.
State Governor has approved the construction of 1680 flats to be constructed in various parts of Kashmir Valley especially in South Kashmir for the displaced Kashmiri Pandits. In a recent interview, Satya Pal Malik justified the need for separate colonies for the Kashmiri Pandits and said that it was necessity for the Government to provide them secure and peaceful environment to live in Kashmiri.
Recently in a review meeting, senior officials of Planning Department said that Governor asked all the concerned Commissioner Secretaries who are connected with the construction of the flats to remove all the bottlenecks within two weeks so that the work on these projects is started without any further delay. The officer said that already the State Chief Secretary has received 6 detailed project reports and they have been reviewed.
