Two drug peddlers arrested in Sopore: Police
Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in north Kashmir’s Sopore and seized contraband substance from their possession.
A Police spokesman in a statement said that officers at a checkpoint established at Warpora crossing arrested two notorious drug peddlers identified as Abdul Hameed Mir and Bilal Ahmed Chopan both residents of Janwara Sopore.
He said that they have been shifted to Police Station Sopore where they remain in custody. “Contraband substance has been seized by the officers in the instant case,” he added.
“Case FIR No. 190/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered and initiated investigations in the matter,” said police spokesman in a statement.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” said the spokesman.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” said police spokesman in a statement.
