5,273 pilgrims leave Jammu for Amarnath cave in Kashmir
Srinagar : A batch of 5,273 pilgrims left Jammu on Wednesday for the Kashmir Valley to perform the Amarnath Yatra.
They left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in two escorted convoys of vehicles, as 1,777 pilgrims are going to Baltal base camp while 3,496 towards Pahalgam, an official said.
The 45-day long annual Amarnath Yatra which started on July 1 has been going on smoothly. Till date, over 1.2 lakh pilgrims have paid their obeisance at Amarnath cave.
The pilgrimage will end on August 15, coinciding with the Shravan Purnima festival.
