Militant slain in Budgam gunfight was affiliated with JeM: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that a militant killed in a gunfight with the counterinsurgent forces at Kralpora Checkpora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district was affiliated with Jaish Muhammad outfit.

“From the #incriminating materials recovered, the killed #terrorist has been identified as #foreigner from #Pakistan namely #Zarar who was affiliated with #proscribed #terroroutfit #JeM. Arms & ammunition recovered. Case registered(sic),” Police wrote on Twitter.

The gunfight started after a joint team of army’s 50 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Gund Checkpora area of Kanipora, Nowgam late last night following inputs about the presence of some militants.

As the joint team of forces intensified the searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.
