Two militants killed in Shopian gunfight, Internet suspended
Srinagar : Two militants were killed in a gunfight with goverment forces in Awneera area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.
A police official said that the two militants were killed and their bodies were recovered along with arms and ammunition from the site of the gunfight.
The identity of the slain militants was being ascertained, he said.
Earlier during the midnight, army, SOG and CRPF laid a cordon at Awneera village.
The cordon-and-search operation was launched in the area following specific information about the presence of some militants, the official said.
Meanwhile, authorities have suspended mobile internet service in the southern district.
