Venomous snake found near Omar Abdullah’s residence

Srinagar : An extreme venomous snake gave security personnel anxious moments when it was spotted on the lawns of former Chief Minister and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah’s official residence here, officials said on Saturday.

Quoting official sources, news agency GNS reported that a team from the wildlife department was deputed to the spot which caught the snake.

“A Wildlife SOS team in Srinagar rescued the highly dangerous snake, spotted at Omar Abdullah’s residence on May 9 and it was released in Dachigam,” said a source, according to GNS.

“The Viper, locally called ‘Gunas’ is extremely venomous,” it said, adding, “The snake was rescued by Aliya Mir.”

In 2017, a cobra was found at the residence of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu.
