Sopore shuts for the second consecutive day over militant killing

Srinagar : Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district is observing a complete shutdown for the second consecutive day on Saturday to mourn the killing of a militant.

Reports said all shops and businesses establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads in Sopore town and adjoining areas for the second consecutive day.

They said people from various areas of Sopore are visiting the residence of the slain militant to offer condolences.

Sources said that a large number of armed force was being deployed in and around the area.

Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi, a resident of Model Town Sopore was killed in a gunfight with the government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district early Friday.

Earlier authorities have decided to suspend class work in Govt Degree college Sopore, higher secondary school boys and higher secondary school girls Sopore on Saturday as a precautionary measure.
