JKEDI holds boot camp at Women’s College Srinagar

Srinagar;Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) Thursday held a boot camp at Government College for Women, M. A Road Srinagar as part of its efforts to ensure proper implementation of the J&K Startup Policy in the state.

The camp was part of the boot camp campaign launched by the institute in all the districts of the State under the J&K Startup Policy-2018 for which JKEDI has been designated as the Nodal Agency.

Over 250 students from different streams being taught in the college participated in the day-long event. Faculty of the college was also present on the occasion.

JKEDI startup team led Syed Firdous, Project Manager conducted the program coordinated by Centre for Women Entrepreneurship, (CENWENT), Kashmir including Syed Nazneen and Umbreen Altaf. Principal GCW, M A Road Srinagar, Prof. Yasmeen Ashai, Convener Career Counselling, Nusrat Syed, HoD Economics, Syed Iffat Ara, Coordinator IQAC, Mehnaz Sheikh and Dr Yasmeen, Assistant Professor IQAC were also present on the occasion.

Syed Firdous deliberated on the background and rationale of J&K Startup policy-2018 keeping in view the ecosystem of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Around 50 ideas were pitched by the students during the boot camp which shall be evaluated by a team of experts at JKEDI.

Syed Nazneen, In-charge CENWENT, Kashmir deliberated upon the significance of women entrepreneurship in J&K and the role of Women Entrepreneurship Centre, a program vertical of JKEDI.

On the occasion, Principal GCW, Srinagar, Prof. Yasmeen Ashai gave an informative account of the unemployment scenario in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and need for entrepreneurship and self-employment. She urged JKEDI to have more collaboration with the college so that such camps and workshops are conducted on a regular basis for the overall benefit of the student community.

The main objective of the boot camp campaign launched by JKEDI is to bring mass awareness about the Startup Policy and to inculcate the spirit of innovation among the youth to give flip to the conversion of innovative ideas into profitable business ventures.
