Income Tax department attaches New Delhi property of Syed Ali Geelani
Srinagar: The Income Tax department has issued an order for the attachment of a property owned by Hurriyat (g) chairman Syed Ali Geelani in New Delhi, media reports said on Monday.
“Whereas the assessing officer has sent to the undersigned a certified copy of the certificate specifying an amount of Rs 3,62,62,160 plus interest is recoverable from you,” reads an order issued by Income tax department to Geelani.
According to the order, the Hurriyat chairman has been prohibited and restrained until further orders from transferring the property in Malviya Nagar in south Delhi.
Meanwhile, new agency ANI tweeted; “#Delhi: Office of the Tax Recovery Officer attaches Kashmiri Separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s Khirki Extension, Malviya Nagar property. Prohibits him from transferring the property as he has failed to pay Rs 3,62,62,160.” (Agencies)
