Thousands attend funeral of slain LeT militant in Sopore

Srinagar : Thousands of people on Monday participated in funeral prayers of slain Lashkar-e- Toiba militant Ishfaq Majeed Mir in north Kashmir’s Sopore town.

Reports said that thousands of people including women and children attended the funeral prayer of slain militant in Brath village of Sopore.

The mourners raised pro-Pakistan and pro-freedom slogans as they marched with the body of the slain ahead of his funeral. He was later laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Brath Kalan.

Mir was killed along with an unidentified militant in a gunfight with the government forces in Babagund village of Handwara in a gunfight that lasted for nearly 56 hours.

Five forces’ personnel and a civilian were also killed in the gunfight and ensuing clashes.
