Srinagar : Joint Resistance Leadership including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik on Thursday condemned the incident of killing of a Sikh youth in Tral by unidentified gunmen.

In a statement the JRL condemning the incident said that the purpose of such incidents is to destroy the communal harmony.

“…even after the massacre of Sikhs in Chhattisinghpora, the people of this community showed far-sightedness and patience to defeat the communal forces.”

The leaders said that the protection of minorities, whether they are Sikhs, Hindus, or Buddhists is our political and moral responsibility. “We have been taught about protecting them in our religion,” they said, in the statement.

The JRL said that a high-level delegation will visit the family of slain Sikh youth Simranjeet Singh in Tral to express their solidarity and convey that they are safe in Kashmir. “…the incident of killing of Simranjeet Singh is reprehensible in every way and that the aim of such incidents is to disturb the communal harmony here,” they said.
