After failing in 12th class examinations, Sopore girl tries to end life

Srinagar : An 18-year-old girl on Tuesday morning tried to commit suicide in Batpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after she failed to clear class 12 exams, results of which were declared yesterday.

An official said that a class 12th girl (name withheld) tried to commit suicide, after jumping into river Jhelum near Batpora area.

Meanwhile, police have taken the cognizance of the incident and further investigations are going on.

As the results were declared, students of the government schools have again come out with flying colors in Higher Secondary Part-II (12th class) examinations in Kashmir division bagging top positions.

Displaying extraordinary performance in Arts stream, the students of government-run educational institutions have walked away with the first 5 positions scoring between 98.6% and 98% marks.
